Zyen Jones put pen to paper last Wednesday to sign with agents Byron Taylor (London, UK) and Michael Brown (Dortmund, Germany) who are both looking at getting him potentially signed to clubs in Europe.

Jones is of Jamaican heritage and is a former Under-19 and Under-20 USA international. He previously played Major League Soccer (MLS) as a youth for Atlanta United Academy in the USA.

He then had a brief stint playing football in the Bundesliga German first division after being signed by Schalke before returning to Charlotte Indepedence in the United Soccer League Championship, where he is currently playing.

The 19-year-old winger is motivated and looking forward to a new challenge in Europe.

“I feel blessed. I am ready to go back to Europe and get back to where I belong. I am just happy that Byron and Michael and my dad, they all support me. So I am just excited to get back on the pitch.”

Taylor is looking forward to help reignite the European fortunes of a player who was once being courted by the likes of Manchester United.

“It's really positive. We are really looking forward to taking him back to Europe, to re-energise his career. I am happy with him as a player and I am sure you will be hearing a lot about him in the future.”

England, Italy, Holland, France, Germany, and Spain are a few options being looked at currently.

Zyen's father Kevin, who played football for Jamaica College during his school days, was also on hand to witness the signing. He was delighted that his son would be potentially returning to Europe in the near future.

“I am very, very excited. I hope he goes over there and does what he needs to do and just handle the programme. I want to see him excel to the highest plateau. I just want him to be happy, I just want the best for him and that's it,” he beamed.

Michael Brown and Byron Taylor are in the island to scout local talent as well as sign other local talent.
