Born Ralph Rueben Lifschitz in Bronx, New York, designer Ralph Lauren is known for his wardrobe staple polo shirts and stunning red-carpet creations. While it's clear he's an uber-fan of Jamaica and Round Hill, there's so much more to the fashion icon. Take a closer look at some of his favourite things.

1.Cars Galore

He has an extensive car collection which includes numerous Ferraris, Jaguars, an Alpha Romeos and one of two existing Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantics in the world.

2.Brooks Brothers Alum

He got his start in the fashion world at 24 working for Brooks Brothers on Madison Ave in New York.

3.Old Blue Eyes

It could be a 'New York State of Mind', but Frank Sinatra is his favourite singer.

4.Classic Movie Buff

Classical movies such as The Thomas Crown Affair and To Catch A Thief are some of his favourites.

5.Club Monaco

Many don't know that another of their favourite fashion brands Club Monaco was acquired by Polo Ralph Lauren in 1999.

6.English 'Tea'

He's admitted to being an avid fan of the now-cancelled show Downton Abbey.

7.Double or Nothing

When not vacationing in Jamaica, Lauren and his family can be found on his ranch Double RL in Colorado.

8.Crispy Lines

He prefers his bacon burnt…especially in burgers.

9.Lauren Twice Over

His son David married Lauren Bush in 2011, who now goes by Lauren Bush Lauren.

Ralph Lauren designed the menswear-inspired outfits for the movie Annie Hall.
