'Weeks' In The Knees

Sunday, October 01, 2017

Designers boldly threw down the gauntlet with their visions of next year's tastemaking wardrobes for the Spring/Summer 2018 ready-to-wear presentations that commanded the fashion industry's undivided attention in Milan and Paris. As expected, our Rock guys and girls were major players in the model casts.

In Italy, Donatella Versace resurrected her late brother Gianni's thematic print motifs in celebration of the 20th anniversary of his passing; Gabriele Colangelo gave shapes and experimental twists to his fabrics; and Emilio Pucci delivered a collection intended for the seaside traveller with silk twill pieces and bejewelled terry caftans.

Meanwhile, in France at the still-in-progress Paris Fashion Week, 'it-guy' Simon Porte Jacquemus scored rave reviews for his collection inspired by his mother that featured soft draped asymmetrical cuts and side-knotted, plunging tops, and Dries Van Noten reinforced his cachet with distinct tailored looks ranging from vertical striped silver and pewter pantsuits and bold print slipdresses.

With the Saint International squad of Tami Williams, Naki Depass, Barbra-Lee Grant, Wayne Booth, Shane Guyher, Lydia Barnett and Jonny B joined by Pulse's lone star Alicia Burke on catwalk duty, SO counts their every move at Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks.
