“I was watching how California legalised marijuana on TV one night and thought to myself, how can Jamaica benefit from it... Indeed, how can I as a designer benefit from it?

“The name 'Irie Grade' came to me from the high associated with marijuana and the high-grade quality of Jamaican marijuana. So Irie Grade means high quality of merry clothing.” — Fashion designer Anetta Mahoney.

The response has been nothing but 'irie' for Mahoney, especially from her New York based-clientele. Her target market, she tells SO, is “anyone of the legal buying age”. In addition to her Irie Grade swimsuits and wraps there's her amazing collection of Irie Grade shoes. The lace-ups are fully tested for comfort and are great for hitting the pavement!

The collection, as you can well imagine, is moving rapidly, so move with alacrity. < or at her fashion studio at Round Hill Hotel in Hopewell.
