In The Bag — My Prada Handbag — Jean Anderson

Two-and- a-half years ago when I had spinal surgery in Miami, I was told by my neurosurgeon not to carry a bag that weighed more than 5 lbs. On doing my research I found that most handbags I liked weighed more than 5 lbs, even before I had my contents put in. My daughter Eroleen suggested I buy a fabric bag rather than a leather bag, as it would be much lighter; I agreed. She took me immediately to the store, introduced me to the Prada bag which I have not stopped carrying since my surgery, as it turned out to be the lightest bag and a good investment as it looks just as good as when it was bought.

I kicked and screamed about the price, but she refused to take me anywhere else, as she did not plan to be walking up and down to find a less expensive bag. She claims to be an expert at all things of good quality. She promptly emptied out the contents of the bag I was carrying in the new bag, paid for it and forced me to take it. As soon as we left the store she informed me that I should reimburse her at a later date.

I have no regrets. It turned out to be what I needed!
