Dear baby,

As we get closer to meeting you, Mommy, Daddy and big brother are so excited to finally see who's been kicking like crazy in Mommy's tummy. Mommy is excited to find out whether she'll have another little boy to love, or welcome a sweet little girl.

Either way, please know you're about to join a family who will love you endlessly!

Get ready for your big brother who'll share his love of the outdoors (best enjoyed barefoot), chasing lizards and birds, and showing you the best stones to throw.

Mommy will be thrilled for another sidekick to share car rides with, sing nursery rhymes, and challenge me to grow even more as a parent. Daddy, oh boy, if you're a little girl, you think big brother will be your biggest protector.. wait until you meet Daddy — he'll make sure not a speck of dirt touches you … and if you're a boy, get ready to join him in the outdoors, as well!

I look forward to your first smile, the sound of your laugh, your smell. Of course I pray you'll be spared from gripes, and will sleep through the nights. I look forward to forming our own special bond and sharing moments, just us two (if we can escape big bro for just a few). I can't wait to watch you eat your first mango, observe the first time your toes touch the grass, watch you take in the world and see your personality develop.

Mommy prays that you'll always know how special you are — and never forget to be grateful for everything, great or small. More importantly, don't let the world dim your light, and remember God's presence in your life. I'm even more excited that you'll be able to share this life's journey with a sibling — I've always wanted to have a big family and you're helping to make that come true.

As an only child, I missed having a sibling — so am anxious to see how you and your brother navigate life. I am certain it won't always be smooth — and there will be days that you'll both wish for space, but know how important family is, and what values will bond you both together.

Although Mommy is excited to share life's experiences with you, know that Mommy is also a firm believer in discipline and learning consequences for your actions — so prepare to be loved, but also know that this love will hold you accountable and show that you need to work hard, and respect others — no matter who they may be — as we are all God's children.

I love you, my little one! Looking forward to a safe delivery to welcome you into our family!
