Wishes for a baby

Dear Little Love,

When I was asked to write this letter to you, I was immediately overcome with emotion and thought of a million things I wanted you to know. Here I am, sitting with you, and feeling closer to you than ever. It just dawned on me that we have been in constant non-verbal communication for the last six months and at this point, no one knows me like you do. I believe you can feel all my emotions, hear all my heart's desires and even feel my biggest fears. So, I want to reiterate what you already know, most of which you know better than me. There is GREAT love for you here. Your dad and I are so eager to watch your journey unfold. We can't wait to see how your story plays out. Most of all, we are excited to be a part of your life. Your brothers are a great bunch. As you know, we aren't set up like most families but we are a family nonetheless. Your brothers already talk about you and can't wait to meet you. The “big boys” like to think about the day when they will drive you to school or to the movies or take you to parties (they're laughing now but I know all too well that it won't be funny when the time comes.) Your big “little” brothers mostly can't wait to show you around, teach you games and show you slime (yeah, that's a real thing). I can't even begin to tell you about our village filled with endless aunties and uncles, cousins, grandparents and friends who are all so happy that you are on your way to us. On that note, I want you to know that this world can be really harsh sometimes but I promise you, your family will always be here to cushion the falls, to weather the storms, to advise you when you need a 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinion and to guide you back home when you feel lost. Little One, there is so much for you to learn once you get here but my prayer is that you don't ever lose what you, by birthright, will come here with...a deep understanding of your Source, joy unspeakable and connection to a never-ending stream of love. Lastly, I want to thank you for all that you are teaching me about myself and about being truly present. What a gift it has been to have you with me these past few months, all the time gently (and not so're a KICKER) reminding me of what is truly important. Thank you for putting everything back in perspective and, most of all, thank you for making me a mommy again. And just as we sit here together today, miraculously connected, know that there will be no time, no day that you couldn't find your way back to my love.
