2013 Earth Day Competition

Call for entries

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

THE Natural History Museum of Jamaica (NHMJ) is inviting entries for the 2013 Earth Day Competition. The competition is open to all secondary school students within grades seven to 13.

Students are asked to submit individual entries to the literary arts (formerly essay), poster, and photography categories. This year, for the first time, schools are also invited to submit entries for the new Performing Arts Category.

The theme for the 2013 competition is "Water Conservation: Life's Preservation", as this year has been designated as the International Year of Water Cooperation. The deadline for submission of entries is Friday, March 8, 2013.

Judging will be done subsequently and the winners will be announced at the annual Earth Day Competition awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year and aims to promote the preservation of the Earth's natural resources. The NHMJ has always been an active participant in this global event as we continue to encourage the preservation of Jamaica's natural heritage.

For further information including competition guidelines and entry forms, please contact education@nhmj-ioj.org.jm at the Institute of Jamaica.
