D’Angel’s plans to launch book

Dancehall artiste D'Angel has been busy entertaining her fans, and to add to the list of entertainment is her new book titled Love Triangle. According to reports, the 'first lady' is releasing her debut book in February of this year.

It is said that Love Triangle is part one of a two-book deal with Pageturner Publishing House as she will also embark on an autobiography entitled, Break Free later this year. Allegedly, it will talk about her many successes and controversies on and off stage.

There have been rumours, however, that the novel tells the story of her affairs with popular Dancehall long shots, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, a claim which she has denied.

Mavado breaks the silence

It's been seven months since the shooting incident at Bounty Killer's birthday bash at the Quad Nightclub where Conroy Edwards died. Since the incident, Dancehall singjay David 'Mavado' Brooks has remained silent.

However, on January 25th, he released a letter breaking his silence on what happened that night.

He expressed that "Conroy 'Connie' Edwards was fatally shot whilst being unarmed and to date, the matter continues to be the subject of investigations with the lapse of seven months. I, in my humble view, see this as a clear case of homicide and have failed to result in an arrest thus far."

He states he has deliberately kept his silence for the seven months, but the time has come for him to go public with the hope that justice will be served.

Reggae Month celebrations kicks off

Reggae Month kicks off in February, and with Jamaica celebrating 50 years, plans are well underway for this year's staging.

The Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) has met with Damian Crawford, minister of state in the ministry of tourism and entertainment and Lisa Hannah, Minister of Youth and Culture. Crawford assured JaRIA that the Jamaica Tourist Board would be partnering with them to stage Reggae Month with a sponsorship of $4 million.

Under the theme 'Reggae 50... Jamaica's Heart and Soul', Reggae Month will kick off with the staging of the Dennis Brown Tribute Concert on January 29 at Orange Street, downtown. The event will host artistes such as Damian and Stephen Marley, Tarrus Riley, Cocoa Tea, Half Pint, Ken Boothe, Junior Reid and Beres Hammond.

JaRIA's signature event will be 'Reggae Nights' schedule to take place on February 1 at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.
