DARRICK 'Dacx' Foster is an 18-year-old past student of Ardenne High School, known in most circles for his photographic accomplishments. He is currently a student of the University of the West Indies where he is pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science.
He grew up with his sights set on various professions, however, his love for computers exceeded all, and from this love, photography was berth as a major part of his life. Some may call it 'buck-ups', others may say its fate, but growing up and having played with and destroyed many Kodak disposable cameras, it was no surprise that this keen interest propelled him to form his own business, Dacx Photography and in conjunction with Brian Ricketts Da'Bri Designs.
His interest grew from taking random shots with a camera his mother had both for personal and business purposes, and considering his eventual outcome. After his mom bought a camera to assist with her job, Darrick explained that it was always around the house having no use.
Out of boredom, he then decided to use it go by going outside and taking some pictures. After looking on his work, the journey in the field of photography began as he got numerous compliments from friends and family which helped to push his drive and as such he established Dacx Photography in November 2010.
As his interest grew he started reading about the field online to not only get rules and tips but also the technicality of photography and also the work of many established persons in the industry. Having gotten ideas, he would try these on friends and things around the house. As he expressed to TEENage: "Initially when I started, I was doing a lot of inanimate and nature shoots."
Since then he has done many parties including EVE, En Vivo and Lights Out, as well as Sweet 16 parties, ceremonies, business launches and even funerals in addition to promotional and private photoshoots.
Not just a photographer, this humble TEEN is also a graphic designer.
As such Da'Bri Designs was established with Ricketts, who is the director of Digital Media and Jon Thompson as the public relations officer.
Together, they focus not only on photography but also graphic designing, an avenue that has led them to work on picture editing, designing logos and flyers just to name a few. Among their clientele are fellow TEENentrepreneurs Young Moguls, as well as international clients.
Adding to his diversity, Dacx was certified as a video editor in 2010 as he did a summer course at the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) at the University of the West Indies with the hopes of one day venturing into that arena as well.
When asked to describe what he does he stated: "When you enjoy your job, you won't consider it a job anymore. To me it's more than a job, it's life."
Tips from the Photographer: "Always keep your battery charged as you never know when you're going to get a call, keep your memory card clear or have an extra and ensure you have all equipment."
