Digicel Christmas promotion aims to share a smile

| Tuesday, November 20, 2012 |

IN the spirit of spreading joy and cheer this festive season, Digicel has launched its latest promotion that will not only see its customers winning a share of J$15 million in cash and J$27 million in credit, but also the extraordinary opportunity to "share a smile" with a loved one.

Under the notion of 'paying it forward', where the beneficiary of a good deed is in turn asked to do something good for someone else, 'Share a Smile with Digicel this Christmas' will see 10 customers winning weekly cash prizes of J$1 million each. Plus, Digicel will give them an additional J$500,000 each to share with loved ones or friends who the customer feels is deserving of it this Christmas -- a concept never before seen in any promotion in Jamaica.

According to Annalise Harewood, Digicel's recharge manager, "Christmas has always been a special time of the year for Digicel's customers. We're always looking for new ways of rewarding our customers and thanking them for being a part of the Digicel family. Continuing she said, "as a Jamaican brand, we recognise that one of the deepest traditions of Christmas in Jamaica is the spirit of sharing and making others happy and that is just what this promotion will doâ inspire our customers all across Jamaica to 'share a smile' with someone special.

New and existing Digicel customers will get the opportunity to win J$15-million cash and J$27-million worth of free credit (totalling $42 million) when they top up with $108; talk for 10 minutes on a post-paid plan throughout the promotion period or purchase a handset. Customers will also qualify when they activate a new 4G account or pay their bill in full and on time. In the meantime, another value-added element of Digicel's new Christmas promotion will see customers receiving $1,500 call credit with their purchase of handsets in Digicel stores islandwide.

To introduce this exciting new promotion, Digicel hosted a free Christmas concert in Mandela Park in Half-Way-Tree this Friday, November 16, and patrons were be treated to loads of laughs and entertainment from the likes of Ity and Fancy Cat; performances from Jermaine Edwards, the Spectacular Dance group, plus popular recording artiste and Digicel brand ambassador I-Octane. Passers-by were also be treated to other surprise activities and giveaways that are guaranteed to put a smile on their faces.

However, the free concert was only the first phase of the exciting Christmas promotion.

"As always with Digicel there is more — to further inspire customers to 'Share a Smile with Digicel this Christmas', we will be popping up in communities all across Jamaica with Christmas Treats and Roadshows to treat kids with gifts for the holidays and just to further connect with our customers in their communities," concluded Harewood.
