UPCOMING artiste, Eva Hype, has released his latest mixtape entitled Pros & Cons. The project is a follow up to his 2012 virally successful Music & Her.
Pros & Cons, Eva Hype describes, is a "catalyst for the Island Pop scene locally, and arguably is spearheading the current fusion music movement in Jamaica".
The bulk of the album's production was handled by fast rising producer Mario Dunwell, but also features heavyweights such as Washroom Entertainment, Young Vibez Productions, and others.
This hybrid of music defined by Eva is shown throughout the project's entirety. Songs like Champagne, Life In My City, Night With A King, and Together, show the immense hip-hop influence within his artistry. The storytelling elements of Night With A King are reminiscent of early Jay-Z and Drake, while Together is a namesake flip of Al Green's classic within the instrumentation.
Balancing the foreign influences with local genres in the mixtape, tracks such as We A Floss, Doing Me, and Foreva are authentic Jamaican sounds. We A Floss is a contemporary take on mid-1990s digital dancehall, while Foreva showcases Eva's best impression of Sizzla's signature off-key falsetto, often used in his love songs.
The singles included in Pros & Cons that have already impacted media outlets include the Washroom Entertainment-produced Only One, the Young Vibez Productions current radio bubbler Rise, and the popular video single Take Off, the project's bonus track.
