Flexxing with TOK

RECENTLY Alistaire 'Alex' McCalla and Roshaun 'Bay-C' Clarke, two members of one of Jamaica's most celebrated musical groups — TOK, flexxed with TEENage clearing up rumours of a break-up as well as giving you, our valued readers, an update as to the happenings of the group.
TOK's genesis can be traced back some almost two decades ago, as a group of friends from Campion College and Calabar High School namely, Craig 'Craigy T' Thompson, Alistaire 'Alex' McCalla, Roshaun 'Bay-C' Clarke and Xavier 'Flexx' Davidson, envisaged the formation of a formidable male music group to take Jamaica's music to the world. The rest as they say is history as the group has since become a household name, gracing the Billboard Top 100 list on numerous occasions since their first album some 11 years ago.
Late this year news broke alleging an impending break up of the group. According to Bay-C, the group is 'solid as a rock'.
He told TEENage that group member Craigy T, in a spate of artistic frustration, expressed a wish to depart from the group due to what he called 'creative differences' he felt that existed between himself and the group.
This, according to Alex, has since been resolved and the group is working harder than ever to satisfy their fans, particularly their fans at home.
Bay-C stated that notwithstanding the conflict which existed, the members remained brothers throughout.
He also revealed to TEENage that he is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Laws degree. This, he said, has been a desire of his for sometime as working in the entertainment business has opened his eyes to areas unexploited by Jamaica and Jamaican artists especially in the area of our intellectual property.
He believes that this will only better enable to him to maximise TOK's potential in the entertainment industry.
The group has released several hits this year including Gypsy Wine, which has received rave reviews and heavy rotation on local and international airwaves.
TOK dubs themselves as consummate patriots and their hit song Yahdie, is an anthem for the Jamaican spirit and is a most appropriate track showcasing the strength of Jamaicans as we approach our nation's golden jubilee.
Alex was cautious not to reveal too much information about an exciting upcoming reality TV series the group will be executing in the coming months. He did, however, say that talks have been ongoing for some time now as to the group's involvement in reality TV and they are excited to embark on this new chapter in their career.
Closing on a rather refreshing note, the group pledges greater things in 2012 and has expressed their wish for a society empowered by belief in self and committed to greatness in Jamaica 50th year and beyond.
