JN Foundation launches Action Jamaica
Tuesday, February 21, 2012
THIS week Jamaica National (JN) Foundation will be rolling out its volunteer programme called Action Jamaica.
The programme was partly in response to the myriad requests sent by persons, particularly high school students, to get involved in the Foundation's activities. The programme seeks to encourage all Jamaicans to TAKE ACTION in positively transforming lives and communities across Jamaica.
"Our approach is to create an annual schedule of activities to allow individuals to participate based on their areas of interest and/or their level of expertise. For example, community service is a mandatory requirement for graduation at most of the high schools in Jamaica, as such, students are always seeking opportunities to carry-out community service. Action Jamaica will act as a medium through which such opportunities will be afforded. Students will be able to utilise our online resource to register for a particular activity based on their interest," said Anna-Kim Robinson, project officer, JNBS Foundation.
Through the activities of the Foundation, participants will be mobilised to participate in projects that address some of Jamaica's most serious problems in areas involving:
* Education & Community Development
* Education & Youth
* Health, Security & Safety
* Arts, Culture & Heritage
Building on the core values of the JNBS Foundation, the programme aims to make service a way of life for all Jamaicans, with an emphasis on establishing working partnerships that will supplement and strengthen the Foundation's efforts within communities across the island.
