1) In 1991, Jamaica hosted the final stage of the second edition of the Caribbean Cup, the football championship of the Caribbean. Jamaican placed first, defeating Trinidad in the finals.

2) In 1991, at the World Championships hosted by Japan, the Jamaican 4x1 sprint relay team, comprising of Juliet Cuthbert, Merlene Ottey, Dhalia Duhaney, and Beverly McDonald, took home gold.

3) In June of 1991, the PNP led administration entered a new agreement with the IMF that allowed for a US $59 million stand-by agreement and US $21 million in compensatory finance.

4) In September, 1991, the government announced plans to allow Jamaicans to hold foreign currency accounts in an attempt to stifle the black market.

5) In 1991, Roy Rayon won the Festival Song Competition with the popular son Come Rock.

6) In 1991, the hilarious Jamaican film, the Lunatic was released. The film gives the dramatic perspective of an un-sound man in the authentic dialect of the island.

7) At the Pan American Games of 1991, held in Havana, Cuba, Jamaica came away with 2 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze; Diane Guthrie Gresham took the gold in the women's Long jump, the women 4x1 relay team also took home a gold, while Deon Hemming same home with silver in the women's 400 metre hurdles.

8) In 1991, the nephew of veteran Jamaican guitarist Earnest Ranglin, Gary Crosby conceived Jazz Jamaica, a musical fusion of jazz and reggae. Crosby is know for his creation of the musical fusion Skazz, which gained global appreciation.

9) In 1991, the popular Talkin' Blues live album by Bob Marley and the Wailers was released.

10) In 1991, the government signed an extradition treat with the United States government. Since then, Jamaica has been one of the most active extradition partners of the US government.
