Jamaicansmusic.com offers scholarship to performing arts students
Tuesday, July 03, 2012
AS their way of giving back to national development, starting September 2012 the team from Jamaicansmusic.com will be offering a full tuition scholarship of approximately JA$125,000 per annum, to a lucky student who wishes to study at the School of Performing Arts at the Excelsior Community College's Church Street campus.
The scholarship is for male or female first-year applicants wishing to study for an Associates of Science Degree in Performing Arts, and is valid for two years based on academic performance, deportment and financial need. In order to qualify for the scholarship, students must of course meet the requirements of the programme to be admitted, and should be in need of financial assistance. The scholarship is valid for the upcoming academic year cannot be deferred for any reason.
At the end of the first academic year, a review will be done to see if the student meets the requirements to be given the scholarship for another year. These requirements include that the students must be successful in all examinations, and maintain at least a B average.
A selection committee including the principal of the Community College, the CEO of Jamaicansmusic.com, the head of School of Performing Arts and the guidance counsellor will decide on the successful candidate by mid-August and the award will be officially presented at the Excelsior Community College's Student Awards Presentation Ceremony held in November.
Interested students should submit their application by July 31 to the guidance counsellor of the Excelsior Community College or online at jamaicansmusic.com/scholarship. You can also check jamaicansmusic.com for more information on the scholarship.
