RASCO: All about the music
Tuesday, January 17, 2012
THERE are many young artistes knocking on the doors of the entertainment industry for that big break, but not everyone has what it takes to get in. One artiste, who has definitely shown his credentials for his big break is Head Concussion's Rasco.
A Clarendonian by birth, the 22-year-old, who now resides in the United States travels back and forth to work on his budding career. The TEENage team caught up with Rasco on his latest visit to the place he once called home.
TEENage: What is your real name?
Rasco: My name is Rashan Lee
TEENage: What school did you attend while in Jamaica?
Rasco: I attended Glenmuir High School.
TEENage: How did you get involved in the music industry?
Rasco: Well, I got started at the Los Angeles Recording School, and then I was introduced to DJ Frass, who brought me to Russian of Head Concussion Music and that was that.
TEENage: What inspires you?
Rasco: I get my inspirations from artistes such as Konshens, Chan Dizzy, Wayne Wonder, Damion Marley and Barrington Levy.
TEENage: Why should persons listen to Rasco?
Rasco: Well, I am different from other artistes; I am all about the music, nothing else. I also provide a different atmosphere, a mixture of Jamaican and American culture.
TEENage: Give Jamaica one word to describe your music.
Rasco: Unparalleled.
TEENage: One word to describe Rasco, would be?
Rasco: Enigmatic.
TEENage: Outside of music is there anything that grabs your interest?
Rasco: No! Music is my life; I am all about the music.
TEENage: What is next on Rasco's agenda?
Rasco: Well, I am currently in the process of promoting my new single featuring ChanDizzy titled Anytime. The video is currently being played on the major television stations, so it is just straight hard work.
TEENage: Is there any artiste that Rasco would relish doing a collaboration with?
Rasco: Well, locally that would be Konshens and internationally Rihanna.
TEENage: Where do you see yourself in three years time?
Rasco: I see myself as an establish artiste and getting more involved with other aspects of the music such as producing.
TEENage: What is your advice to other young artistes in the business?
Rasco: No matter where you are from you can always make it. Also live life to the fullest because you only live once 'YOLO'.
TEENage: How can persons get in contact with Rasco?
Rasco: Through Facebook.com/aRascoMusic, on my website www.aRascoMusic.com or follow me on Twitter @Iamrasco.
