ON Thursday, September 27, Jamaica joined the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and all its global partners as they observed World Tourism Day under the theme: 'Tourism and Sustainable Energy: Powering Sustainable Development'.
Minister of Tourism and Entertainment Wykeham McNeil, Junior Minister of Tourism and entertainment Damion Crawford, tourism partners and other ministry and government officials toured the Eco-Village at Sandals Montego Bay to view the alternative energy facilities there.
Students from Cornwall College and Herbert Morrison's Tourism Action Club were also among the 40 specially invited guests, who had the opportunity to tour the Eco-Village and were engaged in a commemorative luncheon which was organised by the ministry.
