ON January 31, the TEENage Observer invaded the school grounds of Portland High School, which was our next stop in the TEENage Expression Tours.
The cool climate was heated up with talented performances. The students all came out with one purpose and that was to win. First on stage was the Drama Group doing a piece entitled Violence Nuh Pay.
Each line, each scene just got better and better and the performance had everyone on the edge of their seats.
They then made way for Lafara Locke, who did a gospel song entitled I Believe that was a blessing to all. Following that was Creative Expression with a sign language piece that didn't go as well as planned. DJ Simion Watson did a piece entitled Education, which was well received by the audience. His lyrics were great and he sent out a positive message to all.
Immediately after that, Stacy-Ann Cowell did a song displaying her vocal talents. Following that was DJ Sanjay Bell doing a deejay piece entitled Mood For Love.
Tisha Deschryuer, who dubbed herself DJ Poppy Show, came with a dub poem/song entitled Portland High that got the audience cheering although there were some technical difficulties she still performed to the best of her ability.
Shanieka Tait also did a poem, which was not quite as exciting and was delivered with stuttering confidence.
Danika, Vanice and Shannon also did a mini-skit entitled Cuss Cuss. As the title suggested it was all about cursing, and was well received by the crowd. They then made way for Carlton and Winston with a well-choreographed dance piece that had the crowd in a frenzy. After each performance it was clear to see that the performers all came prepared and win.
As customary, TEENage Tour host Kesi Asher asked trivia questions and Jovana Atkinson, Janile Edwards, Samoy McFarlene, Tajaun Burke, Oshane Miller, Danike Graham and Kamesha Barrett were among the eager winners.
After all the performer, there was a Pronto Cornmeal Porridge Mix Eat-off, which was narrowly won by Joel Goyan.
After that the top three winners were named. In third position was Carlton Bolton and Windel Jon, second place went the DJ Simon and first place went to the first performers, the Drama Group who will now go on to represent Portland High School in the TEENage Observer Expression Tour finals.
TEENage Observer then treated the audience to some musical relief from gospel artiste Rondel Positive and Allelula Boy, who came and blessed the audience and ended the show on a high.
