TEEN Expo fills Holy Childhood

Last Saturday, energy, music, live entertainment, food along with teenage products and services filled the Holy Childhood High School's auditorium.


The TEEN Expo sponsored by the Office of Children's Advocate begun at 11:00 am, roaming TEENagers gradually walked the halls of the auditorium exploring the different products and services.


Upon entrance, capturing the attention of almost every male boy that passed was a series of gaming devices where they grasped the opportunity to play various videogames.


With other exhibitions and booths on the ground, Dark and Lovely set up their own mini salon as female spectators could not leave their spot without being informed about their products and receiving a free hairdo.


Set up less than a footstep away from Dark and Lovely was Loreal, as they displayed their products, girls lined up for makeovers from their make-up artist. Roaming the grounds of the auditorium, one stumbled upon accessories from Signature Style boutique, female clothing from Kylas Posh & Sassy.


Complementary sweet treats from HD Hpwood and NM Marketing and Cari-Med Ltd who set up a Skittles and Orbitz booth. Information about various services such as Dolphin Cove, TEEN Link, Language Cradle, Jamaica Stock Exhange, Garmex Academy, Aerospace College, Kirk Distributors and Facey Commodity, was available, and upon approaching the Miss Jamaica Caribbean Talented TEEN booth, one could not pass without meeting the reigning queen.


The event was hosted by Kruddy who he circled the auditorium visiting almost every booth in sight.


At 4:00 pm, it was time for the excitement to begin as TEENagers slowly made their way into the auditorium and headed towards the stage. Starting the entertainment were performances by a series of Miss Jamaica Caribbean Talented TEEN 2012 finalists Nascine Morris was up first she enthusiastically delivered her dub poem, following her, reaching to the crowd with their drama presentations was first runner-up Oshin Morgan and following her performance was second runner-up Shannon Johnson.


Kabrena Robinson, the reigning queen took the stage as Rover with her winning talent. Other early performers also passed through from Thugsy Malone, N-and-N Tune host Kruddy cheered the audience with numerous giveaways and competitions, including a female modeling competition, dancing competition, musical chairs and the most exciting one of all the Harlem Shake competition.


Winners of these giveaways received prizes from Cari-Med and Clean & Clear and Libresse.


Later in the day dancehall artiste D'Angel wrapped with the audience in a discussion which focused on popular teen issues. Teens reached out to her with numerous of questions from dating, sex, education, peer pressure and more. After the rap session she willingly performed and was well received by the audience. Following D'Angel was another exciting performance by Card Unit as they shook the stage with their energetic dance moves.


TEEN Expo definitely did not end without some surprises, as the final performers geared up to perform, there was a series of artistes from Downsound records including Nature and Don Husky with the surprise of all surprises, Ninja Man did not hesitate to take the stage.


Finally, the crowd railed for Specialist as he performed Street Hustle and Gallis Anthem after which, closing the show Ishawna stepped out as they performed their hit song Do For Love.


It was 7:00 pm and finally the end of an eventful day. The first staging of TEEN Expo in Jamaica was a success and the organisers are already making plans for the next staging.
