Tashay’s kids flick for charity
Tuesday, December 27, 2011
TASHAY’S Kids Flick for Charity — Movie Day at the Palace Cineplex at Sovereign Plaza on Saturday, December 17, hosted approximately 75 wards from three different children’s home in Kingston.
Walker’s Place of Safety, Mustard Seed Communities: Martha’s House, the Nest Home, the Wortley Children’s Home, Best Care Lodge, Alpha Boys’ Home and the Mustard Seed Community: St Matthew 25:40 Children’s Home all participated in the day’s activities, executed by 14-year-old Tashay Myers.
Myers is a student of Immaculate Conception High School, and began the charity at age of 10 , while reigning as Mini Miss Jamaica for the year 2007-2008.
The love, joy and fulfillment that this day brings, not just to Tashay, but to all the children who partake in the treat, has encouraged her to make this event an annual one.
Each year after the movie each home is presented with boxes of goodies that contain items such as clothes, books and toys for the children.
“Seeing the children’s’ faces when they received their gifts made me feel happy in knowing I did something good for less fortunate children. Utmost gratitude is given for the efforts made towards this year’s event a success,” Myers said.
