Top rumours after one week in the January transfer window
It’s that time again football fans. This transfer window is buzzing with a tonne of rumours. Here are the three biggest transfer rumours this week.
1.
Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea – The Monaco midfielder is likely to be a welcomed addition to the Blues. He impressed managers with how instrumental he has been for his team in Ligue 1. Chelsea now £60 million rich after Oscar’s transfer to China is said to start bidding soon. Chelsea, is however not ready to pay the £30m asking price.
Bakayoko is also being linked to Manchester United. If he’s looking to win any trophies this season he might be better off at Chelsea. Chelsea midfield has also seemed to lack a bit of incision a few times this season, particularly in rough matches when Eden Hazard goes MIA.
2. Diego Costa to Tianjin Quanjian – Costa has been linked to the Chinese Super League team who is rumoured to be offering £80m for the forward. Costa attempted to dismiss the rumours by expressing his satisfaction with his place at Stamford Bridge. Additionally, it would make little sense for Antonio Conte to sell his top goal scorer at such a critical point of the season.
3. Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United – It is rumoured that Manchester United wants the Frenchman along with his club mate Saul Niguez. Unfortunately for Manchester United, their contracts were just freshly renewed and their buyout clause cumulatively is £145m. Atletico Madrid perhaps would be doing themselves a great disservice letting those players go. Both players would also likely be assured more game time and Champions League football if they stayed.
