World Blood Donor Day
Today, June 14th, is World Blood Donor Day.
Did you know that blood donation by as little as 1% of the population can meet a country’s basic blood requirements?
As cliché as it sounds blood really is one of the most precious gifts you could ever give to another person. Your blood could help to save another person or even more than one person if the components (red cells, plasma and platelets) are separated to help persons with specific deficiencies or medical conditions.
Blood donation becomes a big help in planned surgeries, accidents and emergency lifesaving efforts.
Persons aged 17-66 that weigh a minimum of 110 pounds generally meet the basic standard for blood donation.
If you are eligible to give blood consider going out and doing that this World Blood Donor Day: each one can reach one.
