The Jamaica Food & Drink Festival Is Back For A Third Helping

Thursday, September 14, 2017

Due an anticipated return to the capital's culinary calendar next month, the Jamaica Food & Drink Festival was launched Tuesday evening on the picturesque waterfront of downtown Kingston at Victoria Pier at businessman Andrew Azar's soon-to-open three-level dining and leisure establishment.

“We're hoping to drive and build Jamaica with this event,” declared Festival director Alicia Bogues, whose substantial day job as the regional development manager of CB Foods has her looking to increase both the bottomline and volume delivery of the poultry and meats industry giant. Bogues told the rooftop gathering of sponsors and invited guests that the weeklong festival — back for its third outing — is slated to begin on October 21 with Pork Palooza and wind up on October 28 with a brunch event at the National Gallery. In all, seven distinctively different food experiences will once more take place at multiple locations across the city.

The buzzworthy launch, which featured a Select Brands-stocked watering hole, had heavily trafficked food stations by chef/caterers Alexa Von Strolley, Oji Jaja and Gairy Bowes, who will appear alongside culinary peers to showcase delectable offerings at the October festival.

Thursday Food joined the beeline of the shortlisted after-work set who made the Ocean Boulevard-venued event a weeknight respite.
