FROMAGE @ HILLCREST Gets A Makeover

If, like most of us, you're spending more time at the Fromage Marketplace location rather than Fromage Bistro located at Hillcrest, even though you live within the Golden Triangle belt, then it's time to return. 'It's because we love new and spacious' has been the rationale until recently.

Truth be told, the timing could not be better, for with Design Week all the rage Thursday Food suggests you check out the fresh and fab Fromage Bistro at Hillcrest.

“We like to keep innovating and raising the bar,” explains the establishment's co-principal Lisa Chin. “We have a fab, cosy new-look, modern European-chic interior that offers a lot more space and seating. There is too a chic new 400 sq ft marble wine bar and waiting area.

“We decided to freshen up our space by exchanging the rustic style for a more contemporary feel with charcoal and rose gold accents. We realised that the bar in the dining area was cutting into the seating area so we created a new entrance foyer/waiting area and relocated the bar. We also created a few-more booths, as we realised they were very popular with patrons and added more ambient lighting to set the mood and feel.”

Total renovation aside, what has remained constant are the taste, quality food and exceptional service. The smoked marlin power salad remains a customer favourite and (thankfully) remains as good as it was in 2013 when it made its debut. Chicken and shrimp can be had in lieu of smoked marlin. There are, too, fettuccini alfredo, bistro burger, kale and apple salad and fresh pressed paninis for lunch and favourite dinner options like the feta-crusted lamb chops and crab stuffed chicken lasagne.

New is good and necessary, so look out for the coconut-crusted snapper along with corned pork mac and cheese on the dinner menu. Plus, the egg cocotte (baked eggs), steel-cut oats, new sparkling cocktails and green juice for those in search of a healthy option.

And, let's not forget the Guinness Braised Pork Ribs Special, an absolute favourite which is available for lunch and dinner.

A new and impressive cocktail list with tropical flavours infused in each cocktail such as lychee, coconut, passion fruit and mango is yet another reason, as is the new Baileys ice cream sundae.
