Let's Hair It Out

London Fashion Week (LFW) happened!

Under the Dryer (UTD) makes a case for diversity in hair and make-up for black or ethnic models.

Ever since being black became fashionable, there's been a steady improvement in the hairstyles created for women of colour – particularly in high-fashion editorials and on the runways. We're excited about the movement, and looking ahead for better hair days. But black hair is not restricted to just afros and cornrows, so, it was quite refreshing to see several other styles at LFW. Plus, Allure has listed Bajan pop princess Rihanna as their #allurebestofbeauty, and we're loving the visuals, the styling, and certainly, the unbothered glam. Under the Dryer (UTD) settles in for more.

There's glitter along the eyelids and lips that match the glitter on the tongue. Daring!

[Erdem]

Sheer netting and tulle-covered wide-brimmed hats were the fashion approach at Erdem. Sensual, naturally matte make-up was the recommended 'beat', which features natural lip colours and dramatic brows.

[Fashion East]

The au naturel look followed through to Fashion East for an edgy take on the working girl look. Hair was slightly unkempt and pulled to the side or free-flowing and low-maintenance. The make-up was just as edgy with a hodgepodge of colours that created a smokey eye effect.

[Peter Pilotto]

The Pilotto palette included shimmery gold eye shadows, nude nail polish, bare matte lips, and supple dewy skin to highlight the soft elegant fabrics and prints used in the collection.

[Roksanda]

The natural and effortless look was all over the Roksanda runways. The cute little ceramic bottle earrings added a touch of mod and colour. Slicked-back and light curly hair kept the chic in check, though the make-up was as minimal as the garments.
