And there's no better time, we reckon, for the Pretty & Glam Carnival Make-up countdown to begin.

Achieve this look in less than 20 minutes!

Model: Rajae Bedasse

1. Use a primer for long-lasting make-up (eg Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser)

2. Apply foundation and set with a translucent face powder.

3. Using a windshield wiper motion apply a soft brown eyeshadow to the crease of eyes. Follow with a deep red colour towards the outer corner of the eyes. Apply a deep purple eyeshadow to the centre of the eyelids and softly blend outwards. Brighten up the eyes by using a gold eyeshadow in the inner corners, then taking a yellow eyeshadow and blending it from the same inner corners of the eyes upwards. The key to this look is blending the eyeshadows well (Try Morphe cosmetics 35S eyeshadow palette).

Add false lashes for a more dramatic look.

4. On both sides of the face make a 'C' shape with a pink blush from cheeks to forehead.

5. Apply a glitter sealant or glitter gel adhesive over the blush area. Before the adhesive dries add fuchsia cosmetic glitter evenly.

6. Over the exact area where the cosmetic glitter was added, apply silver circular glitter flakes. This gives the confetti like appearance as seen on model Rajae's face.

7. Add highlighter (glow) to cheekbones, chin, Cupid's bow and down the middle of the nose (my personal favourite at the moment is Maybelline's master chrome highlighter.)

8. Finally, apply a bright coloured lipstick. (Mac's hot pink 'Candy yum yum' lipstick was used here mixed with a bright pink liquid-to-matte lippie.)

9. Spray face evenly with a hydrating setting spray (Try Skindinavia.)

Bold Carnival Make-up

Make a statement with this Carnival make-up look!

Model: Whitney Levy

1. Again, start with primer, apply foundation and set with translucent powder.

2. Apply a bright blue eyeshadow on the eyelids. Using a tapered eyeshadow brush apply the blue eyeshadow along the lower waterline/lash line. On the brow bone apply a bright orange eyeshadow colour (Used NYX cosmetics pigment)

3. Using a small lipstick brush pick up some of the blue eyeshadow and draw a line from the inner eyes to the edge of the nose and from the outer eye to the hairline.

4. Adhere small blue rhinestones along these lines using the adhesive spirit gum.

5. Glitter eyebrows: Using a deep purple eyeshadow cover each eyebrow until eyebrow hairs become hard to see. Apply a glitter sealant over the eyeshadow and apply purple cosmetic glitter over the eyebrow area.

6. Finish off this look using highlighter/glow (again, my favourite being Maybelline's Master Chrome highlighter) and a bright red lipstick.
