BOGUE, St James — International Association of Athletics Federation World Championships 100m gold medallist Yohan Blake is to host an Easter Monday Fun Day for residents of his Bogue Hill community, at the Bogue football field in St James.

The event which is being staged at a cost of $500,000, includes a seven-a-side football competition.

Twelve teams from several communities in close proximity to Bogue Hill, will participate in the day-long competition that will see the winners taking home $60,000 and the Yohan Blake trophy; the runners up getting $40,000; third place gets $25,000 with the fourth-placed team getting $15,000, the same as the top goal scorer.

Three of Blake's corporate sponsors LIME, WATA and Key Motors are the sponsors of the day's event.

Venesha Vanriel, a member of the organising committee told Jamaica Observer on Tuesday that teams from the communities of Bogue Hill, New Ramble, Ramble Hill, Bogue Heights, Bogue Village, Wales Pond, Moy Hall, Tower Hill, Guava Walk, Catherine Hall, Granville and West Green have been invited.

There are no entry fees for the teams or for spectators who will be entertained by a disc jockey all day, she added.

The format of the competition will see the 12 teams separated into four zones of three each, and after two games, the winners of each zone will advance to the semi-finals.

Each game will be a play to finish encounter and if the scores are tied at the end of the 30-minute duration, penalty kicks will be used to decide the winners.

Blake who at 21- years-old became the youngest ever World 100m champion, after he won the gold medal in Daegu, South Korea, last year, is originally from the Bogue Hill area, but attended St Jago High School in Spanish Town where he started his track career under coach Danny Hawthorne.

Blake is expected to be at the event on Monday where he will sign autographs and present the trophy to the winners.
