MONTEGO BAY, St James — CORNWALL College Old Boy Reverend Ledger Kellier, has donated $1 million towards the school's welfare programme.
The funds will be used to provide hot meals for roughly 35 students this school year.
The donation was made recently during a brief ceremony at the Montego Bay-based educational institution.
In handing over the cheque, Kellier -- who is the brother of Minister of Labour and Social Security Derrick Kellier and Councillor Martin Kellier --recalled his struggles in school, due to a lack of proper nutrition.
"I have had similar experiences while attending Cornwall College and can relate with the burden of having to do the utmost to concentrate, while battling relentless concern for where lunch is coming from each day," he said.
Reverend Kellier is no stranger to giving back to the institution, as he has been with the Florida Alumni Association for 29 years, and has donated more than $1 million to the school for other activities.
