MONTEGO BAY, St James — THE Board of Management of the Amy Muschett Home for the Aged will stage its 50th Anniversary Fund-raising Concert this Sunday at the St James Parish Church in Montego Bay.

The event, scheduled to commence at 4:00 pm, will be held under the distinguished patronage of Bishop Howard Gregory and Mrs Charmaine Gregory, and is expected to showcase the musical talent of the region.

Proceeds from Sunday's staging of the concert will go towards the upkeep of the home.

The home, which is located in Duncans, Trelawny, was founded in 1962. It was donated by property owner Amy Maud Muschett as a gift to the Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands to provide a home for the elderly in Trelawny.

Initially, management of the home was done through a trust, which was established for that purpose. Now, support and funding for the home comes from an annual stipend from the Jamaica Church Missionary Society and from contributions paid by the residents.

The residents receive accommodation, three meals per day, utilities, laundry, housekeeping, and nursing care. They also receive regular blood pressure checks and blood sugar tests. The home — which accommodates residents in semi-private rooms with private bathroom facilities — has doctors on call and a registered nurse, Lurline Black, who is the matron.

Provisions are also can be made for married couples.
