She's better known to Montegonians as 'Teacher Isa', the willowy educator who used to camp out at the Tropical Beach club for the past three years training children as young as two in the art of gymnastics, dance and art and -- in the summer--taking them all over the island during the course of Camp Super adventure for the past ten.

But today she's Dr Isa-Allean Blacksher-Hoshing, a decorated graduate of the Alternative Medicine College of Canada (AMCC) where she qualified as a Naturopathis medical doctor following six years of gruelling work during the course of a residency which took her across the globe from the California State University Northridge and Clayton College of Natural Health where she did her undergraduate work; Stuart, Florida, where she completed her medical residency with American Dr Barbara Thurman, the International Associations of Acupuntures 2005 Top Acupuncture Physician's awardee and eventually to China where she is currently reading for a second doctorate degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

Having honed the art of preventing and relieving many diseases including diabetes, hypertension and the dreaded cancer through diagnostic and other measures, she's ready to help those who lives are at risk from diseases and like the prostate cancer that took her father in 1997.

"I am so excited and blessed to bring alternative medicine-- full-strength-- here to Jamaica." she told the Observer West from her new practice, New Horizons Natural Health Care Centre.

"Natural Health care is based on you living as healthy as you can, which means eating right, exercising, getting the right therapies and living with a positive mind and spirit - and we can help you with all of these," she added.

Located at Shop #8 at the Montego Bay Club Resort on Gloucester Ave across from the scenic Doctors Cave Beach, New Horizons bills itself as a new type of health care facility that offers the best in 100% all-natural alternative and preventative medicine.

Available services include natural health consultations, detoxification and purification, natural pediatric care, natural weight-loss, chronic pain relief, massage therapy, women's medicine & infertility therapy, Chinese medicine and anti-aging medicine.

"Because of Jamaican's love for all things natural - I know they will love using natural remedies to balance their health!"

Born on an an Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas, Dr Blacksher was schooled at in Arizona, California and Canada.

In the late 80's music brought her to Jamaica--she's a degreed studio engineer-- where she made several appearances with her vocal group, the Mystic Rays, at the international Reggae Sumfest festival in Montego Bay and worked in studio with the likes of Nadine Sutherland, Dean Frazer and several other popular musicians.

A believer in being fully involved, she is the Caribbean Representative for the International Association for Naturopathic Physicians (IANP); a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) and the American Alternative Medical Association (AAMA). She also directs Herbal Solutions, a non-profit outreach program that brings natural healthcare to poverty-stricken country and urban areas.

"Herbal Solutions is about sharing natural health and welness, so if you are interested in hosting a natural health fair in your community or church all you have to do is get in touch," she told the Observer West.
