MONTEGO BAY, St James - FORMER president of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pauline Reid, has launched her first book, entitled ‘Montego Bay Jamaica: An aweinspiring photographic journey.’

The 300-page coffee table pictorial provides a colourful history of Montego Bay, through spectacular photographs of people and places, with stimulating stories that chronicle the city’s evolution into the tourism mecca of the Caribbean.

“It offers a gripping and inspiring adventure that will turn back the proverbial hands of time as you take a nostalgic journey back into the days of yore,” Reid said at the launch held at the Half Moon Hotel last week Thursday.

“I am proud of this book and hope that you will appreciate it for what it is intended, that is, to capture and to bring to life, the culture, the people, the beauty and charm of a remarkable city,” she added.

Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett, in a message read by Jamaica Tourism Board (JTB) Deputy Director with responsibility for marketing, Sandra Scott, congratulated Reid, noting that the book is a valuable addition to reference material on Montego Bay.

“The launch of this book coincides with the start of the winter tourist season and is a literary treasure that our visitors can take home with them,” Bartlett said in his message.

Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Charles Sinclair, also commended the author on the book, which he said, is a “wellneeded and updated pictorial journey of Montego Bay’s development”.

“I am certain that she has captured in it the history of Montego Bay and the personalities that have contributed to its total and constantly evolving landscape and I am certain that this will lift the profile of the city,” he added.
