MONTEGO BAY, St James — Members of the Hopewell Vipers team who were involved in a fracas that forced a premature end to the Lucozade Western Basketball Association's Division One final Game Three last month will face the disciplinary committee next Thursday at the Montego Bay Cricket Club, starting at 6:30pm.
Among the players who have been summoned to face the committee are Dwight Reid who reportedly started the incident by throwing the contents of his drink bottle into the face of referee Deon Williams, along with Christopher Bowen, Kirk Wright, Oneil Grey and Marlon Messado.
The players will be asked to explain their part in the fracas that saw the game being called off with a minute and 29 seconds to go in the fourth quarter with Sav Hawks leading Hopewell Vipers by a healthy 67-43 margin and on their way to winning the series two games to one and the title.
Reid the player/coach for Vipers had walked off the court after fouling out, hurled abuses at the referee then threw the contents of a bottle in the official's face.
This sparked a fracas and the game was called off and Hawks declared the winners after coming back from a loss in Games One.
