Western Ja to ring in the new year in style
Thursday, December 27, 2012
MONTEGO BAY, St James — A number of parties are lined up for western Jamaica this Monday night, as thousands of persons from across the region plan to ring in the new year in style.
Editor-in-Chief for Oceanstyle Magazine Douglas Gordon says his first edition of Ocean Style's Sophisticate will be a delight to patrons who attend.
"Sophisticate will be held at Seawind Beach Club in Montego Bay, and is an all-inclusive event.
Actors Rockmond Dunbar and Anthony Anderson will be the hosts for the event and actor Bryce Wilson will be one of our DJ's. Tickets are priced at US$150 for couples and US$80 for singles, said Gordon.
Director of Sales and Marketing at Round Hill Villas, in Hanover Linda Lawrence told the Observer West that this year's New Year's Eve party will celebrate a special milestone for Round Hill.
"It will be our traditional New Year's Eve Ball. We chose the theme 'Roaring Fifties' because we will be celebrating our 60th anniversary in the new year. We will have Chef Martin Maginley cooking up a storm and entertainment will be provided by Unique Vision Band and Gem Myers," she said.
Tickets for that event are going for US$385, and include cocktail hour, dinner and fireworks.
Food and Beverage Director at Ritz Carlton Raj Mohan in Rose Hall says he will be treating patrons to good food and a lively party on the beach.
"The dinner will take place on the lawn, while the party will take place on the beach. We have some sponsored bars and music will be provided by Livewire. We will also be entertained by 'Children of the Drums'. The tickets are being sold to locals at US$100 each and we also have a New Year's Eve package that includes a room and brunch on New Year's Day for those who may want to stay at the hotel for the night," Mohan added.
Director of Sales and Marketing for Island Entertainment Brands Andre Dixon, says Bluebeat will be ringing in the new year in fine style, as well.
"Bluebeat will be having a special party called 'Parfume' which along with the usual beverages, will also have Ciroc-based beverages and serve ultra-premium hors d'oeuvres all night. We will also have fireworks to ring in the new year right and DJ Kamal Bankay will keep us dancing throughout the night," he said.
A number of other events are also planned across the western region.
These include HNY (Happy New Year) at Clubville, Montego Bay, which will feature DJ Kentucky and DJ Jigga; New Year 's Eve Dance organised by the Wiltshire Citizens Association at the community centre, featuring Stokey Love of Kool FM and Half Moon Luxury Resort New Year's Eve party on the Seagrape Terrace, featuring Fan 5 Band and Gem Myers.
