Helpful Holiday herbs (Pt 1)

Thursday, December 24, 2009

THE other day a lady called me to say that her child had been sick for over four weeks with a persistent fever that wouldn't go away even after repeated visits to several doctors who prescribed various antibiotics and other conventional medicines. Desperate, confused and crying, she called me for help.

After calming her down, I questioned her as to the child's age and date of birth to determine the child's temperament. I told her to examine the child's mouth to see if any new teeth were bursting out. She did and realised that the child was teething. I recommended that she give the child some sorrel to drink. Within two days she called to say that the child had improved. Such is the power of sorrel, the Angolian herb, which is an effective refrigerant for allaying fevers according to rant that can allay fevers according to latest research coming out of the Scientific Research Council and the Nothern Caribbean Univeristy. It is a diurectic which is good for corecting ferbile disorders. For this Christmas I would like to see many more people drinking sorrell as it is accessible, cheap and beneficial to your health. The benefits of sorrel extend to the relief of scurvy, haemorrhage. Combined with vinegar it makes a good external cure for itching and ringworm. Sorrell is also good for gargling a sore throat and makes good fodder for animals and humans. The flowers of the sorrel can be used to cure jaundice and relieve ulcerated stomachs, while the root may be used for gravel and kidney stones.

Herb # 2 Capsicum Annum (Cayenne)

This herb's name has Greek origins which mean 'to bite'.

It is one of the best herbs to for the almost instantaneous of alleviation of high blood pressure. Brewed with other herbs, it makes an effective tonic for warding off strokes and other conditions associated with hypertension.

It is also good or aching joints. The other day I got so angry about something that I felt I was about to literally burst with rage. I ran for two capsules of cayenne pepper powder and after swallowing it and bearing the initial heat associated with it I felt myself cooling down, literally! I am still amazed at how quickly it relaxed me.

Mix a little Cayenne wit Golden Seal and Comfrey as an external balm for skin ulcers, or with rosemary for cleansing the eyes or relieving chronic congestion through its ability to dilate the blood vessels.

Herb # 3

I thank my dear friend Telecia for reminding me about the powers of castor oil. The pericap of this very powerful herb has enough poison to kill a human being. It is very good for pain of all types. Plaster it over the affected area and wrap it in plastic. Go to bed and when you wake up the next day the pain will be gone. It was used by the ancient high priests and Levites and is known as one of the most powerful laxatives in medicine. The oil will purge the body even when rubbed on the skin. It is used in many cosmetics including lipstcks and soaps.

Next week I'll tell you about some more of the herbs that have been helping me out this Christmas Until then have a hearty one!
