Resting up without those pills
BUCKSTON... ...& HUBER’S ALTERNATIVE
Thursday, December 31, 2009
More than 6,000 people in Jamaica rely on sleeping pills whicvh are advertised as harmless and non-habit forming.
However many of these users have told me that since taking pills they are becoming more tense and finding it even more difficult to sleep. The more they use them, the tenser they get. This is a dangerous thing which interferes with the natural processes of the body. Energy is stored in the body during sleep, so much of the poisons and toxins that the body accumulates go through a process of elmination during sleep. It is said sleep is a result of the gradual withdrawal of blood from the brain. Nervous tension causes a surplus amount of blood to circulate in the cerebral region. One of the things people may to do relieve this type of stress is to soak their feet in hot water. This will enhance circulation of the blood to the feet, eliminating the need for tablets. If the person's diet is right they will sleep like a baby. Cutting down on salt will ward off sleeplessness. Calcium is a very important mineral which everyone over 18 years old should take care to supplement their bodies with. A lack of this mineral can contribute to sleeplessness. So instead of taking sleeping aids, take calcium tablets or increase your intake with horese tail grass, oatstraw, broccoli, skull cap. vervine, valerian or the good old chamomile.Raw cabbage juice will also help you to sleep. Many ladies call me concerning various disorders. The generative organs of a woman are vital to her wel-being. Many of the disorders associated with these oragns are due to improper diets and low iron intakes. In many cases the menstrual flow may be irregular and it is not wise to promote secretions via mediciene beyond attention to warm clothing. Always make sure the person's temperature and diet are right. They should avoid highly-seasoned food, coffee and tea. Herbs such as Penny Royal and chamomile tea carefully prepared can do a world of good in producing a normal menstrual flow. If the flow is supressed, red raspberry can help. Pain-killers don't help. There will be no swelling of the breasts or trouble in the fallopian tubes. An excessive flows are always a prolem. I have always recommended the red raspberry and black-haw as well as crampbark and comfrey . A good female tonic consists of equal parts of black cohosh, Motherwart, black-haw and chamomile. Ladies please be aware that the Queen of England thrives on chamomile tea.
Sipping water is a remedy for hiccoughs, however tea brewed from one tespoon of dill to a cup of water is also good.
A few leaves of mint chewed will also stop your hiccoughs. Other herbs that are good for this disorder include carrawway seeds an pineapple juice. Watermelon seed tea is also beneficial when all other remedies fail. Hiccoughs are caused from a spasmodic contraction of the diaphragm cause by gas in the stomach. Therefore calamus and peppermint are excellent for removing gas frm the stomach. If you cannot get these herbs use ginger, fig leaves, fennel seeds instead.

Huber's passion mix
I discovered another variety of the passion fruit which should make a pleasing blend with many fruits. Try today's recipe:
Ingredients
* 2 oranges
* 1 passion fruit
Method
* Juice the oranges
* Halve the passion fruit and scoop the pulp
* Use the orange juice to wash out the halves
* Strain and serve
