Falmouth doctor, woman on abortion rap

BY HORACE HINES Observer West reporter

FALMOUTH, Trelawny — POPULAR Falmouth doctor Kenneth Enyi and a Trelawny woman are booked to appear before the Falmouth Resident Magistrate's Court next Wednesday, to answer allegations of illegally terminating the pregnancy of a 13-year-old student last year.

The police say the 44-year-old Enyi, of Retreat Heights, Trelawny, has been charged with:

* Procuring abortion;

*Procuring drug for abortion;

* Child endangerment;

* Being an accessory after the fact, and failing to report a crime.

Thirty-six-year-old Claudia Waysome of Hampden Land, Trelawny, whose son allegedly impregnated the minor, has been slapped with similar charges.

In the meantime, the Trelawny cops have launched a manhunt for Waysome's son.

According to a highly placed police source, the minor got pregnant last August, and went to the doctor who allegedly performed an abortion on her.

It is further alleged that the young student -- now 14 -- got pregnant a second time and visited Enyi again last Thursday, ostensibly for another abortion.

However, the police, who got wind of the situation, moved in and nabbed the woman and the doctor.

Enyi and Waysome were taken into custody Thursday night and charged the following day. They are both out on bail.

The minor has since been placed in protective custody.
