Hopewell Vipers, Sav Hawks vie for semi spot

HOPEWELL, Hanover -
Hopewell Vipers and Sav Hawks will seek to get back in the race for a place in the semi-final of the Jamaica Amateur Basketball Association/JPS Parish league on Saturday when they meet at Orchard Sports centre in Hopewell.

Both teams were losers in last weekend's first round and must win this weekend to maintain their hopes of getting to the last four and winning at least $25,000.

The winners of the islandwide competition will get $100,000 and the winner's trophy while the runners-up will get $50,000 with $25,000 each going to the semi-finalists.

Sixteen teams separated in four zones of four teams each are taking part in the competition which is in its second year, and the winners of each zone will advance to the semi-final.

Avalanche and Granville Jaguars were winners in the first round with wins over Hopewell and Hawks respectively and will meet at the Montego Bay Cricket Club on Sunday.

The competition will end next weekend with the third and final regular season round.

Hopewell will host Jaguars at Orchard while Sav Hawks and Avalanche will meet at Mannings.
