This week, meet the People’s National Party’s candidate for Eastern Hanover, Lloyd Hill.
Name: Lloyd Hill
Date of Birth: April 20,1950
Constituency: Eastern Hanover
BORN in the Haddington area of the constituency he is seeking to represent, Hill is the sitting mayor of Lucea, Hanover. Since 1998, he has also been the councillor of the Sandy Bay Division.
A past student of the Sandy Bay All-Age School, Bethel AllAge School, Cornwall College, Jamaica Institute of Management and the UWI School of Continuing Studies, he has worked in the airline industry, banking, travel service, sports administration and business.
Over the years, Hill has held the several positions including chairman of the PNP Youth Organiser (1974-1976), secretary of the PNP constituency executive committee (1976-1979 and then again from 1984-1989), and vice chairman of the constituency executive committee (1993-1995). Since 1995 he has also been the chairman of the Sandy Bay Sports Development Council.
Q: Why should we vote for you?
A: “I was born in Eastern Hanover, where I’ve spent most of my life. Over the years I’ve always been involved in working with communities and community organisations in Eastern Hanover for their development through sports and other community activities.
“My performance as councillor for the Sandy Bay Division is an indication of my ability and willingness to serve as an elected representative.
“During my tenure as mayor and chairman of the Hanover Parish Council, we have seen many achievements and accomplishments in Lucea and throughout the parish of Hanover. I have also ensured that better service is provided by the Hanover Parish Council, by insisting on better management even with the limited personnel and financial resources that are available.”
