Three face abduction charges on Feb 18
Western Bureau — After four months before the courts, including three aborted trial dates, the expectation is that come February 18, trial proceedings against the three men charged with the abduction of St James resident Nordia England will finally get under-way in the Western Regional Gun Court.
The accused are Junior Reid, 25, of Hopewell in Hanover; 42 year-old Patrick Williams, also called “Patrick Oates”, of Haddington in Hanover and Chorolyn Eunis of Unity Hall in St James.
They have been charged with abduction, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and robbery with aggravation.
Reid and Williams were charged following an identification parade held at the Negril police station last September while Eunis was charged later, after he was held at his home in Unity Hall.
At about 11:00 pm on August 29, 19 year-old England reportedly boarded a Toyota Corolla route taxi in her Catherine Hall community. Reid, Williams and Eunis were reportedly in the back seat of the car and when the driver reached the LOJ Shopping Centre, they allegedly brandished firearms and ordered him to take them to Ramble Hill.
Upon arrival at that location, it is alleged that the driver jumped from the vehicle even as the three accused men fired shots at him.
The taxi operator managed to escape unharmed and his car was recovered along the Catherine Hall main road the following day. England was not as fortunate. She was not found until three days later at the Hopewell Square in Hanover.
