50 year-old painter shot dead
A 50 year-old painter of West Avenue, Greenwich Town, Kingston 13, was shot dead by gunmen in that community on Sunday.
Dead is George Singh, otherwise called ‘Junior’.
Reports from the Constabulary Communications Network’s Metro Officer are that about 8:50 pm, Singh was in his yard when he was approached by a group of men. The men allegedly pulled guns and opened fire, hitting him several times.
He died on the spot.
The police were summoned and the body removed to the morgue for post mortem.
The St Andrew South Homicide Team, which is investigating, has not yet established a motive for the killing.
Citizen wrestles revolver from gunman
A citizen on Sunday reportedly wrestled a Colt .38 revolver from a gunman and handed it over to the Spanish Town Police in St Catherine.
According to the CCN’s Liaison Officer for St Catherine
North, at about 4:45 pm, a man was in the Fraser Content community when he was reportedly approached by a man who was armed with a gun. The two reportedly had a long-standing dispute.
A bystander saw what was happening and accosted the gunman.
During the struggle, the bystander wrestled the firearm, with three .38 cartridges, from the gunman. It was subsequently handed over to the police.
The Spanish Town police are investigating.
Body of missing gardener found
A gardener, who reportedly went missing on Saturday January 03, was found dead in a water tank at Buena Vista, Manchester Sunday.
He has been identified as 38 year-old Altimont Williams, of Buena Vista.
Reports from the CCN’s Liaison Officer for Manchester are that Williams went missing at about 7:40 am on Saturday. A search was subsequently launched and his body found in the water tank about 12 noon on Sunday.
The body was removed to the morgue for post mortem.
The Mandeville police are investigating.
