Stowaway caught at airport
A man who was arrested after allegedly trying to scale a perimeter fence at the Sangster International Airport in a bid to board a Canada-bound plane, will return to court on January 21 to be sentenced.
Osmond Charlie, who claimed that he grew up in Canada and was trying to make his way back home, pleaded guilty to breaching the Airport Regulations Act when he last appeared in court. He was remanded in custody and a social inquiry ordered.
‘Bubbler’ on drug charges
Popular Montego Bay entertainer Georgia “Bubbler” Gray will return to court on January 21 to answer to drug charges.
She was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 with surety during her last appearance in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The 39 year-old mother of four was slapped with charges of breaching the Dangerous Drug Act after she was allegedly caught with a banned substance during a police operation.
According to court files, on January 6 a police party was on operation in the Railway Lane section of Montego Bay when they saw “Bubbler” sitting beside a stall on the sidewalk.
A search of the stall turned up nothing, but a small plastic container with 29 pieces of a substance resembling crack cocaine was reportedly removed from “Bubbler’s” armpit.
She was subsequently arrested and charged.
Exotic dancer stabs sister
An exotic dancer who allegedly stabbed her sister in the chest during a fight over a wet bathroom will know her fate when she returns to court on January 21.
Resident Magistrate Valerie Stephens has ordered a social inquiry on 25 year-old Judith Dixon to help her make her ruling.
It is alleged that at about 12:30 pm on December 17, Dixon’s younger sister, Lydia, visited her at her Palms apartment in Ironshore, Montego Bay.
The court was told that while there, Lydia went to use the bathroom and accidentally got the floor wet. During an argument over the wet floor, Judith, armed with a knife, approached her sister who was drinking and smoking, the court was told.
An on-guard security officer reportedly heard a loud argument and saw a partially dressed Lydia run into the yard, with a knife in her hand, while being chased by Judith who was similarly armed.
During the ensuing confrontation, Judith pushed Lydia onto a fence and stabbed her in the chest, the court was told.
She was hospitalised for a week after undergoing major surgery as a result of damage done to her heart.
Judith was subsequently arrested and charged for wounding with intent.
Man, girlfriend charged with assaulting his wife
A St James man and his girlfriend were taken before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday after they allegedly assaulted his wife.
Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm are Marian Brooks and Linsford Marsh.
The married couple, according to reports, are currently separated.
According to the allegations, on August 3 of last year, the complainant, Charm Marsh, was at the matrimonial home when Brooks showed up.
The wife allegedly denied her entry and locked the door; but an angry Brooks went to her car, returned with a set of keys and opened the door to the matrimonial home.
Marsh then physically tried to prevent her from entering the home, Brooks hit her in the face with the keys and a fight broke out.
Marsh’s husband, the court was told, intervened and pushed his wife to the ground telling her that Brooks had a legal right to be in the house.
The matter was reported to the police and Brooks and Mr Marsh were arrested and charged.
They are expected back in court on January 20.
