Two men shot dead, bodies dumped
behind gas station
THE bullet-riddled bodies of two men were yesterday found wrapped in tarpaulin behind a gas station on King Street in Kingston.
One of the men was identified as Richard Wilson, 21, of Elgin Street in Kingston, while the other man was not positively identified, although the police reported that he also resided at Elgin Street.
Homicide detectives theorise that the two were killed elsewhere and dumped behind the gas station.
Police believe the killings are linked to an ongoing gang feud in Arnett Gardens, a tough inner-city community in Kingston, the nation’s capital.
Teen killed over stolen gun
WESTERN BUREAU – A 16 year-old boy yesterday became the second person to die, since Sunday, in what cops believe to be a row over a stolen gun.
Howard Clarke, from 25 Sunvalley Road, died from a chest wound four days after his friend, 18 year-old Sanchez Porter, was gunned down at the entrance to the Glendevon Market.
According to deputy superintendent in charge of crime for St James, Cleon March, Clarke went to a house to visit friends, and while he was there, a group of men entered the premises. Clarke and the men argued, a single explosion was heard, two men were later seen running from the scene and occupants of the house found the teen suffering from a chest wound, March said.
Gunmen open fire on domino players
Gunmen with high-powered weapons opened fire on a group of domino players outside a shop at Duncans Pen, in Spanish Town Wednesday night, killing one man and injuring three others.
Dead is 48 year-old Everton Fletcher of 39 Duncans Pen Road. He was shot in the neck.
The injured men – Neville Watson, 32, and 47 year-old Owen Dellahay – were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital and are in stable condition.
One man who was caught in the shooting as he reversed out of his yard, which is located a few metres from the shop, was thankful that his life had been spared. The doors of the vehicle that shielded him was riddled with bullets and the rearview windows broken.
MoBay cabbie shot eight times
WESTERN BUREAU – Taxi operators who ply the Hendon/Norwood route in Montego Bay withdrew their services for several hours yesterday, and lashed out at the police who they blame for Wednesday night’s death of one of their own, Curtis Vassell.
At about 7:00 pm, Vassell’s body was riddled with bullets by gunmen posing as passengers.
Yesterday, the 24 year-old man’s colleagues – some of whom said they have often seen guns fall from passengers’ pockets – argued that frequent and thorough spot checks by lawmen may have prevented his death.
