A 32 year-old woman was killed Friday in a motor vehicle accident on the Greenvale main road in Mandeville, Manchester. Dead is Michelle Bloomfield, a supervisor at Singer Store in that parish. CCN reported that Bloomfield was a passenger in a Honda Civic motor car which got out of control and ran into a Ford motor truck. She sustained head injuries and was taken to Mandeville Regional hospital where she was pronounced dead.
In other reports, CCN said two men were charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition Friday. The men are Joseph White, 24 years old, contractor of Fourth Street and Mark Brown, 19 years-old, mason of Church Street, both of Kingston 12. At about 6:15 am, a joint police and military patrol was in the Rema area when White and Brown were seen on top of a building. They were accosted and White was found with a 9mm Ruger pistol. The firearm, whose serial number was erased, had 10 live rounds.
Two British residents were caught trying to export cocaine at the Sangster International Airport, in Montego Bay. They are Albert Bourorgn, a 41 year-old chef from London, and Jody Marie Norgate, a machine operator of Nottingham, England. CCN said that Bourorgn had checked in about 9:30 pm at the airport to board a London-bound flight, but was stopped and interviewed and then taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he excreted 71 packets of cocaine. He is scheduled to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
In a second incident, Norgate was about to board an England-bound flight when her suitcase was searched. Five cosmetics tubes containing cocaine were found in her possession. She was arrested and charged and is also scheduled to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
