Pregnant 14 year-old murdered, mob killing in Manchester
THE partially nude body of a pregnant 14 year-old girl, weighed down by two cement blocks, was found in a water tank in a Manchester community Thursday morning.
A 21 year-old cabbie, who allegedly had a sexual relationship with the teen and was due to face the court on carnal abuse charges next Thursday, has been taken into custody for questioning.
The dead girl, Keisha Broderick from Dunoon District in the Hatfield section of Manchester, was last seen at about 7:00 am Wednesday when she left home destined for the maternity clinic at the Mandeville Regional Hospital.
The police were notified after she failed to return home within a reasonable time, and efforts to find her culminated with the discovery of her body at about 8:00 am Thursday morning.
Young Keisha’s body was found, nude from the waist down, in a tank at an unfinished home on Knowles Road in Mandeville. Two construction blocks were tied to her body, which was later taken to the morgue for a post mortem.
The Mandeville police are investigating.
Meanwhile, the Alligator Pond police are probing a mob attack that left a 27 year-old St Catherine man dead.
Glengoff resident, Andrew Prendergast, who community members said attacked and inflicted knife wounds to a 45 year-old farmer in Spring Ground, Alligator Pond, on
Wednesday, was later mobbed and chopped by residents.
According to the Constabulary Communication’s liaison officer for Manchester, at about 5:30 pm on Wednesday, the farmer was in his field when Prendergast wounded him on his hand and back. Another farmer who tried to help was also injured, cops said.
Enraged community members meted out their own brand of vigilante justice, chopping Prendergast repeatedly.
The three injured men were taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where both farmers were treated and released. Prendergast died at about 12:30 Thursday morning.
And over in St James, the murder figure climbed to 29 with the deaths of 30 year-old Affan Akman and 35 year-old Rose Mount gardener, Dalton “Ken” Brown.
Akman’s death caused quite a stir in the Muslim community as he was allegedly killed, during a row over money with another Muslim whom cops have identified only as Jafar.
Meanwhile, Brown was robbed and killed by gunmen at about 7:15 pm on Thursday, after he left home on his way to a nearby shop. Three explosions were heard and his body was later found, face down on the ground, with gunshot wounds to the upper body and his pants pockets turned out.
