Grace, Kennedy recalls tomato ketchups
GRACE, Kennedy’s Food Trading Division yesterday announced the immediate recall of eight production batches of Grace tomato ketchup produced for the domestic market.
Erwin Burton, chief operating officer of the food trading division, in a statement yesterday, advised consumers who have purchased Grace tomato ketchup after May 4 to check the batch number – the first digits on the upper line printed on the neck of the bottle. “If this corresponds with any of the numbers (listed below), the product should be returned to the point of purchase where the cost of the product will be refunded,” he said.
Burton said the ketchups were being recalled as there was a concern that the affected batches may contain glass particles due to a problem identified during the production process.
“While it is not certain that the product is in fact affected, Grace Kennedy prefers to take every possible precaution and has taken the decision to recall these batches. We are taking the necessary steps to address this issue, including contacting all customers who may have the identified batches in their possession and arranging to have these products removed from the market,” said Burton.
At the same time, he pointed out that Grace, Kennedy wanted to reassure all customers that the recall was a precautionary measure and does not affect any other Grace products.
