American pilot facing drug trafficking charges
Walter Summerville, the 49 year-old American pilot who was held by the police when this airplane failed to get off the ground at the Ken Jones Aerodrome after being allegedly loaded with illegal drugs, will return to the Port Antonio Resident Magistrate’s Court on June 11 to answer drug trafficking charges.
Summerville was held last Wednesday when the plane got stuck in the mud off the runway at the aerodrome. Police said 62 packets of compressed ganja, each weighing about 80 kilograms; a bag containing ecstasy, a magazine with six .45 cartridges, a flare gun with six cartridges, navigation kits, binoculars, an emergency kit and US$1,855 were found in the aircraft.
The American pilot is charged with possession and trafficking of ganja; illegal possession of ammunition, taking step to export ganja and illegal landing.
