Miller, the minibus driver, told the Observer that at about 10:00 am yesterday he was driving his Toyota Hiace – licensed PA2477 – along the Old Harbour Road towards May Pen. There were 15 passengers in the vehicle, he said.
According to Miller’s version of the events, when he got to McCooks Pen, in the vicinity of Content Farm, a taxi suddenly stopped in front of him. Miller said another taxi, which was driving behind his bus, overtook him and was heading towards a line of traffic coming from the opposite direction.
He said the car suddenly swung back onto the left side of the road and in his effort to avoid it, his bus crashed head-on with a Hyundai Accent motor car registered 5826 BT. The car was being driven by Messado.
But the Spanish Town traffic police said Miller began to overtake a long line of traffic, saw Messado’s car coming and when he was unable to rejoin the line of traffic he collided with the woman’s car.
Both vehicles were severely damaged.
