Teenage mom missing
WESTERN BUREAU – It has been over seven weeks since Maxine Goulbourne, the 19 year-old mother of a two year-old boy, went missing.
Her family is now frantic with worry, and desperate for news about her.
“I wish she could come home and be safe and nothing is wrong with her. She has a son and him miss her more than anybody else. He cannot talk but he, more than anybody, would like to see her,” her sister Patricia Goulbourne told the Observer.
Her last job was said to be at a night club at Catherine Hall in the western resort city and her last address was a furnished room along the Mount Salem main road.
The 19 year-old was last heard from on May 27. She is described as having a brown complexion, medium build and about 162.56 centimetres or five feet, four inches tall.
According to a June 30 report that was made to the Mount Salem police in Montego Bay, Maxine called her younger sister Patricia at about 5:00 pm on June 27 to say she was on her way to Manchester, where her family lived. But the young woman never arrived.
Four weeks later, her family journeyed from Manchester to Montego Bay to report her missing. The police have little to go on and their investigation is hampered by the time lapse between when she was last seen and when cops were told that she was missing. A police officer in Montego Bay explained that they were also challenged by a lack of information, such as the clothing Maxine was wearing when she went missing.
Her family is just praying for an end to their ordeal.
“I leave everything in the hands of the Almighty God… I don’t know where Maxine is. I wish all the best for her and that one day she will call and say, ‘Daddy, I alright’,” her 57 year-old father said.
Her sister Patricia just wants closure.
“Seeing is believing. If you could see a body, you feel better. I mean, I would feel worse (than I am feeling now) but at least I could know where she is. I would feel better,” she said.
