Sandals Royal takes new name
WESTERN BUREAU – Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort and Private Island is the new name that has been adopted by Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay.
The name change became effective on August 1 and highlights one of the major selling points of the Resort, the private island known as Sandals Cay.
Nestled on two-and-a-half acres of land off the resort’s coastline, the island is home to the exquisite Royal Thai Restaurant that serves authentic Thai dishes like Geang Phed Ped Yang. Geeing Phed Ped Yang is roasted curry and Moo Phad King, a stir-fried spicy pork with Asian vegetables and ginger. The restaurant apart, the Sandals Cay is the venue for numerous functions. Wedding functions are regularly performed there.
The resort is this year celebrating 18 years of service to the tourism industry in Jamaica. Sandals is the English-speaking Caribbean’s biggest hotel group, with 5,209 rooms in the region and 2,627 in Jamaica.
Sandals Resort has been the recipient of top international honours as the best Caribbean hotel chain. Gordon “Butch” Stewart is owner of the Sandals and Beaches resorts.
